Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia Successfully Held the Online HSK Examination in 2020

On Saturday, December 12, 2020, the last Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) of the year 2020 in Latvia officially opened. Affected by the epidemic situation, almost all Chinese courses in Latvia have been changed to online teaching, and HSK is no exception. The Chinese proficiency test has been changed to online examination. The winter in North Country is always extremely cold. However, the cold winter does not affect the enthusiasm of Latvia Chinese learners. The Chinese proficiency test will start to register on November 17, 2020. Up to November 27, 2020, a total of 16 people have signed up for the online test. Among them, there are three people at level one, five people at level two, three people at level three, two people at level Four, two people at level five, and one person at level six. Compared with the second HSK examination in 2020, three more students signed up and six levels of examination are added in.This HSK examination adheres to the principle of openness, fairness and justice. It uses zoom conference software to record the whole process. HSK special test software is used for students to answer questions. During the use process, it can capture the real-time and track the dynamic of examinees.

Feeling everyone’s enthusiasm, Professor Shang Quanyu, Chinese Director of Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, organized the volunteer teachers to conduct pre examination training and arrangement immediately. This is the first online Chinese proficiency test in Latvia, and both China and Latvia attach great importance to it. The 12 examiners, including Professor Shang, were divided into six groups according to the HSK level, with two persons in each group. At 10:00 p.m. on December 9, 2020, Beijing time, a simulated test was conducted using Zoom and HSK software to make the examinees and examiners familiar with the online examination process and examination system.

Before the mock examination, Professor Pildegovics, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, joined the meeting and expressed his gratitude and concern to the Latvia volunteers. “I am very grateful to the volunteers who have been able to continue to carry out online courses for Chinese learners in Latvia even though they have been greatly affected by the epidemic,” said Professor Pildegovics. I hope the epidemic will end soon. ”

At 14:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2020, all invigilators and examinees of HSK2, 4 and 6 entered the Zoom conference software according to the examination requirements. With the help of invigilator, each examinee logged into the examination system to check whether there is any problem with the equipment used in the examination. Then the invigilator read the examination instructions and checked the examinees’ information. At 15:00 p.m., HSK2, 4 and 6 started on time. At 18:30 p.m. Beijing time on the same day, all invigilators and examinees of HSk1, 3 and 5 entered the zoom conference software for pre examination inspection. At 19:30 p.m. Beijing time, HSK1, 3 and 5 levels also started smoothly. The volunteers try their best to solve the system and procedure problems during the examination.

With the technical support of teachers from Confucius Institute and CTI international, the online Chinese proficiency test was successfully completed. The smooth progress of the examination is inseparable from the efforts of Chinese teachers in the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia and the support of Chinese learners. The new examination mode also provides new ideas for the future Chinese proficiency test. In the future, the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia will continue to strengthen the publicity of the examination. 2020年12月12日星期六,拉脱维亚2020年度最后一次汉语水平考试(简称HSK)正式开考。受疫情影响,拉脱维亚的汉语课几乎全数改为线上教学,HSK也不例外,本次汉语水平考试改为线上考试。北国的冬总是格外的冷,然而冬日的寒冷并没有影响拉脱维亚汉语学习者的热情。本次汉语水平考试于2020年11月17日开始报名,截止2020年11月27日,共有十六人报名此次线上考试。其中一级三人,二级五人,三级三人,四级两人,五级两人,六级一人。较2020年度第二次HSK考试增加三人,且增设六级考试。本次HSK考试坚持公开公平公正的原则,采用ZOOM会议软件全程录像,HSK专用考试软件供学生答题,使用过程中可以实时抓拍,跟踪考生动态。

感受到大家的热情,拉脱维亚大学孔子学院中方院长尚劝余教授积极组织拉脱维亚汉语教师志愿者进行了考前培训与考试安排。这是拉脱维亚史上第一次线上汉语水平测试,中方与拉方都十分重视。含尚院长在内的十二名监考官按HSK等级分为六组,每组两人,按HSK考试要求分为主监考官与副监考官。于北京时间2020年12月9日晚十点使用ZOOM会议软件与HSK考试软件开展了模拟考试,让考生与考官熟悉线上考试的流程与考试系统。

在模拟考试开考前,拉脱维亚大学孔子学院拉方院长贝德高教授加入会议,对拉脱维亚志愿者表达了感谢与关心。贝德高教授说“非常感谢志愿者们能在疫情的巨大影响下,仍坚持为拉脱维亚的汉语学习者们开展线上课程。希望疫情早日结束。”

北京时间2020年12月12日星期六下午14:00,按照考试要求,HSK2、4、6级所有监考官与考生进入ZOOM会议软件。在监考官的帮助下各考生登录考试系统,查验考试所用设备是否出现问题。监考官宣读考试须知,查验考生信息,于下午15:00,HSK2、4、6级准时开考。同日北京时间晚18:30,HSK1、3、5级所有监考官与考生进入ZOOM会议软件进行考前查验工作。北京时间晚19:30,HSK1、3、5级也顺利开考。考试过程中出现的各项系统和程序问题,志愿者们都竭尽全力为各位考生解决。

在孔院各位教师与汉考国际的技术支持下,本次汉语水平线上考试圆满结束。考试的顺利进行,离不开拉脱维亚孔子学院的汉语教师志愿者们的努力,也离不开各位汉语学习者们的支持。新的考试模式也为未来的汉语水平考试提供了新的思路。今后拉脱维亚大学孔子学院将继续加大考试宣传力度,希望在未来的HSK考试中,会有越来越多的汉语爱好者参与其中。在此也衷心祝愿每一位考生都能取得让自己满意的成绩!
