“熊猫”作为深受学生们喜欢的中国国宝级动物,当与中国水墨画元素结合,让学生们在创作的过程中,增加了对中国元素更深的了解,也对中国文化的喜爱更添一分。

On November 21st, local time in Latvia, the students of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia and the Chinese teacher volunteer Zou Yaping spent a happy time with the “Lovely panda.”

The class begins with a cheerful animation “Kung Fu Panda”. The animation uses Chinese traditional ink painting techniques to express the scenes of pandas and bamboo forests. Pandas  flexibly play Chinese Kung Fu, which perfectly presents the combination of Chinese elements. Then, the teacher showed the students a lot of pictures of the pandas. The students couldn’t help but praise the panda’s cute, then the teachers and students enjoyed the animated image of the panda and the vivid and interesting “Panda Emoticon Pack”. The funny elements and the panda’s cute The combination of images makes the students laugh. After watching the video of American students coming to the Sichuan Giant Panda Base to interact with real pandas, the students expressed that they also want to go to China to see pandas one day. After understanding the introduction of the panda, students started their paiting. After the previous experience of Chinese painting and calligraphy, the students are been able to write Chinese characters independently with the writing brush. The teacher first taught the word “panda”-the writing method and the correct strokes, everyone selected a image provided by the teacher, and began to imitate and create innovative creations. At the end of the course, the students showed their creations to the teacher happily. They finally leaves their Chinese name on their works and take photoes with it.

“Panda” is a Chinese national treasure animal that is popular among students. When combined with Chinese ink painting elements, students will have a deeper understanding of Chinese elements in the process of creation.
