Latvian Academy of Culture held a cultural experience of making dumplings

At 8: 30 a.m. local time on November 29, a dumpling culture experience was held in the Chinese class of Latvian Academy of Culture. Teachers and students from the Chinese language class of the Academy of Culture took part in this activity. At the beginning of the activity, the teacher introduced the Chinese food culture to the students through PPT demonstration and video broadcast, including the differences between the north and south food and the representative food from different regions. Later, Chinese teacher introduced Chinese dumpling culture and the making process of dumplings by video. There are many kinds of dumplings, and dumpling stuffing is also exquisite. Especially during the Spring Festival, the best wishes represented by putting coins or red dates into dumplings deeply attracted Latvian students. The unique Chinese dumpling culture made students of Latvian Academy Culture repeatedly lament that even small dumplings have a deep culture in China. After introducing the dumpling culture, Latvian students also said that there are similar dumplings in Latvia, but there is no such interesting dumpling culture, even now almost no one makes dumplings by himself, and they all go to the supermarket to buy imported dumplings. Later, the Chinese teacher took out the prepared dough, rolling pin and dumpling stuffing, and the students joined the dumpling – making team one after another. Among them, Wei Duo’ai, who has been studying Chinese for a year, also showed other students how to make dumplings. The students all found such cultural activities particularly interesting. After making dumplings, the students transferred the dumplings to the teachers’ kitchen of the shcool. While waiting for hot dumplings in the kitchen, they talked about the differences in diet between the two countries and enjoyed themselves.
