Experiencing the charm of tea——series activities for Chinese Spring Festival

On 3:20pm 12th February 2015, a special activity for experiencing Chinese tea started at the hall of Riga Cultural Secondary School, which is one of the most important cultural activities for this Spring Festival in Confucius Classroom of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia. Besides, this is the first time of hosting the activity for experiencing the tea in Confucius Classroom of Latvia.
The guests who attended this activity are leaders, teachers and students of Riga Cultural Secondary School, and two directors of Confucius Institute was also invited.
The comperes of this activity are students of Confucius Classroom, and they presented all the introduction in Chinese and Latvian. After the opening remarks, the Director of Confucius Institute Professor Pildegovics made a brief speech about the important status of tea for Chinese. And then, students introduced the history and kinds of tea with vivid slides, which offered a cultural course for all the guests. After this, the two teachers of Confucius Classroom presented tea ceremony of oolong tea and red tea separately. Every guests tasted these two kinds of tea after the tea ceremony, and felt the charm with the fragrance.
This activity is special for allowing students to be in charge of the activity. During the preparation, two teachers of Confucius Classroom left the “tea” presentation as homework, and then chose the best pair to present in the activity; the draft of hosting was revised and confirmed under the direction of teachers, and the pronunciation of hosts became better and better with continuous practice and correction. At last, the brilliant performance of two hosts was highly complimented by all the guests.
With the effort of teachers and students of Confucius Classroom, this activity presented and spread the charm of Chinese tea. Many teachers and students said they hope that there are more and more Chinese cultural activities just like this will be held in the future, which makes them learn more about tea hometown of tea–China.
