A delegation from the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia attended the 100th anniversary celebration of Kraslava Secondary School

The delegation of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia was invited to attend the 100th anniversary celebration of Kraslava Secondary School on Saturday, June 10, 2023 local time. The guests who participated in the event included Professor Shang Quanyu, the Chinese director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, Professor Pildegovics, the foreign director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, Ms. Zhang Guiying, the wife of the Chinese director, and Zhu Baiqing, a Chinese volunteer teacher.

Chinese teaching in Kraslava Middle School started in 2018 and has been carried out for five years. Over the past five years, Kraslava Middle School has actively cooperated with the teaching work of the Confucius Institute to promote the development of Chinese language teaching in Kraslava. On the occasion of Kraslava Secondary School’s centennial anniversary, the Confucius Institute sincerely congratulates the school on its century-old brilliant achievements and celebrates this important moment together.

At 10 o’clock in the morning, the event kicked off at the Kraslava Catholic Church. As the priest of Kraslava Middle School alumni, he sent sincere blessings for the centenary birthday of Kraslava Middle School. After the end, the group went to the old campus to enjoy the performance of the Legion Band, and visited the historical relics of the school’s development displayed in the old campus. The audience all lamented the hard-won development of the school. Then joined the parade to celebrate the centennial anniversary. The police car cleared the way, accompanied by the orchestra, starting from the old campus, along the main street of Kraslava to the city center of Kraslava, and enjoying the band performance together with the local residents and the parade . After the performance, Kraslava Middle School prepared a unique and exquisite lunch for the guests.

At 5:00 p.m., the group went to the Kraslava Palace of Culture to participate in the celebration performance prepared by the school. The program is brilliant, rich and diverse, bringing a visual feast to the audience. After the performance, in the speech session of the guests, Professor Pildegovics, the foreign dean of the University of Latvia, delivered a speech on behalf of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia, expressing warm congratulations and sincere wishes to Kraslava Secondary School on its centennial anniversary, and gifting it to Kraslava Secondary School “My Chinese Story” written by Professor Pildegovics and “Selected Translations of Tang Poems” edited by Professor Pildegovics and illustrated by Marija Jurso, the former secretary of the Confucius Institute. Finally, the 100th anniversary celebration of Kraslava Secondary School was a complete success! A delegation from the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia took a group photo with the school leaders.

The centennial celebration is an important milestone for Kraslava Middle School, and it is also the best reward for the hard work of all the teachers, students and alumni of the school. This event further promoted local residents’ understanding of Chinese teaching and enhanced people’s understanding of Chinese. In the days to come, I hope that the Chinese language industry will continue to blossom and bear fruit in Kraslava, and more outstanding Chinese language students will be trained.

拉脱维亚大学孔子学院代表团于当地时间2023年6月10日星期六受邀参加克拉斯拉瓦中学100周年庆典。参加活动的嘉宾有拉脱维亚大学孔子学院中方院长尚劝余教授、拉脱维亚大学孔子学院外方院长贝德高教授、中方院长夫人张桂英女士以及汉语志愿者教师朱柏清。

克拉斯拉瓦中学汉语教学始于2018年，至今已开展五年。五年来，克拉斯拉瓦中学积极配合孔院的教学工作，促进汉语教学在克拉斯拉瓦的发展。在克拉斯拉瓦中学百年校庆之际，孔院衷心祝贺学校取得的百年辉煌成就，并共同庆祝这个重要时刻。

上午十点，活动在克拉斯拉瓦天主教堂拉开序幕，作为克拉斯拉瓦中学校友的神父，为克拉斯拉瓦中学百年生日送上真挚祝福。结束后一行人前往老校区欣赏军团乐队演奏，并参观了老校区陈列的学校发展历史遗迹，在场观众无不感叹学校发展的来之不易。随后加入到庆祝百年校庆的游行活动中，由警车开道，乐团一路伴奏，从老校区出发，沿着克拉斯拉瓦主街道抵达克拉斯拉瓦城市中心，同当地居民和游行队伍一同欣赏乐队演出。结束演出后，克拉斯拉瓦中学为嘉宾准备了别致精美的午餐。

下午五点,一行人前往克拉斯拉瓦文化宫参加学校准备的校庆演出。节目精彩纷呈，丰富多样，给现场观众带来一场视觉盛宴。演出结束后在嘉宾发言环节，拉脱维亚大学外方院长贝德高教授代表拉脱维亚大学孔子学院发言，对克拉斯拉瓦中学的百年校庆表示热烈祝贺和诚挚的祝愿，并赠予克拉斯拉瓦中学由贝教授编写的《我的中国故事》和由贝教授主编，前任孔院秘书玛丽亚配图的《唐诗选译》。最后,克拉斯拉瓦中学100周年庆典取得圆满成功！拉大孔院一行与校领导合影留念。

百年校庆活动是克拉斯拉瓦中学的重要里程碑，也是对学校全体师生和校友们辛勤付出的最佳褒奖。此次活动进一步促进了当地居民对汉语教学的了解，并增进了人们对汉语的认识。在未来的日子里，期望汉语事业在克拉斯拉瓦不断开花结果，培养更多优秀的汉语学员。
