“The Long-Awaited Meeting”——Students and Teachers of LU Faculty of Humanities Celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival Offline

From September 5th to 9th, 2022 local time, during the first week of the new academic year of Faculty of Humanities at the University of Latvia, students of the Department of Sinology were overjoyed that Bai Bingyu, the Chinese teacher they could only see online for the past two years, finally showed up in the classroom. “Stepping out” from the slides of the online virtual courseware designed by herself, Bai Bingyu herself was very excited, too.

In the coming semester, the Faculty of Humanities has set up five different levels of Chinese classes for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and graduate students (first and second year). In the first class, the reunited old friends felt very cordial. Tasting the moon cakes offered by the Confucius Institute and the tea brought by Bai from China, chatting about the changes in life and Chinese learning in the past two years,  reviewing the origin, tradition and cultural connotation of the Mid-Autumn Festival……the joy of the reunion largely comes from the enthusiasm for Chinese teaching and learning. The teacher and students set their own goals, starting a new chapter of Chinese teaching in Latvia together.
