Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia successfully held “Lingnan Impression” China Experience Summer Camp

On August 14, 2014, “Lingnan impression” China Experience Summer Camp which lasted for a period of 12 days held by Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia and South China Normal University concluded. The participants of this camp are outstanding students of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia and its Confucius Classroom in Riga Culture High School. In 12 days, the students visited Beijing and Guangzhou, feeling Beijing Hutong culture, old customs of west Guangzhou, touring the Summer Palace, climbing the Great Wall, visiting the Pearl River, Beijing’s Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City Museum, Guangzhou Lingnan impression Park, and Chen Clan. Students tasted northern dumplings and southern Cantonese-style tea, visited the Confucius Institute Headquarters and two campuses of South China Normal University. They also learnt a variety of traditional Chinese culture courses including tea art, tai chi, calligraphy and Chinese knot. Campers said the camp helped them understand the real China, deepen the understanding of Chinese language and culture and further improve their Chinese proficiency. The “Lingnan impression” China Experience Summer Camp is funded by Hanban / Confucius Institute Headquarters, undertaken by South China Normal University, organized and implemented by Office of Confucius Institute and Department of Foreign Affairs of South China Normal University jointly.
