Series of Events celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia

From November 4th to 7th, Confucius Institute at University of Latvia held a series of activities to celebrate its 10th anniversary, such as organizing on-site exhibitions and online celebrations, composing the Song of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, issuing a series of publications, and media coverage, so as to help more peopole know about the Confucius Institute and enhance Latvians’ enthusiasm to learn Chinese and understand China.

With the joint efforts of two Directors and Chinese volunteer teachers of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, the publications such as The Book of the 10th Anniversary of Confucius Institute 2011-2021, The Chinese Flower Blooms on the Shore of the Baltic Sea — My Story with Latvia, Exploration of Chinese Teaching in Latvia, Latvian-Chinese and Chinese-Latvian Dictionary, My China Diary etc are published by University of Latvia Press, and set up a bridge between China and Latvia.

Confucius institute at University of Latvia held two exhibitions “Water and Color Love Song” and the “10th anniversary of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia” respectively at Natianal Libruray of Latvia and Academic Libruary of University of Latvia. The former mainly exhibited Latvia “Flying Brush” Chinese Painting Studio works by its teacher and students. With their works of art, the authors invite the viewers to experience the magic of water and color. The latter focused on the introduction of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, its teaching & learning activities, cultural activities, important regular activities and other events with detailed descriptive pictures and texts, which tells each visitor the story throughout these ten years (2011-2021) that the Confucius Institute has experienced.

In order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Confucius Institute at Univerisyt of Latvia, a series of online celebrations were held. Chinese teachers, volunteers Chinese teachers and students as well as members from Chinese Association of Latvia sent sincere online celebrations for the 10th anniversary of the Institute.

For the 10th anniversary of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia, Director Shang Quanyu of Confucius Institute, Director Qin Honglei and Professor Xu Yuexiang and teahers/studetns of SCNU composed the song of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia. The song is divided into two parts: teachers’ song and students’ song. Just as the lyrics say: “We are from Confucius Institute, To be a bridge of peace, an envoy of the world, and create new splendor for the culture between the China and Latvia.”

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the Confucius Institute, China International Foundation for Chinese Education and South China Normal University send congratulatory letters to congratulate the 10th anniversary of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia and wish the Confucius Institute a better future! In addition, Guangming Daily coverd “Chinese Culture Fragrance in Latvia—Written on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the founding of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia” , and affirmed the contribution made by the Confucius Institute at University of Latvia in spreading Chinese language.

We fully believe that in the next decade, Confucius Institute at University of Latvia will continue to shoulder the great mission of promoting Chinese language and culture teaching and make greater contributions to Chinese education in Latvia.

拉脱维亚大学孔子学院举办10周年系列庆祝活动

11月4日至7日，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院举办十周年系列庆祝活动。中国国际中文教育基金会和华南师范大学送来贺信，活动通过举办系列展览、线上庆祝活动、创作《拉脱维亚孔子学院之歌》、发表系列出版物、媒体报道等方式，让更多人了解孔院，提高了拉脱维亚人学习汉语和了解中国的热情。

在拉脱维亚大学的中方院长尚劝余和外方院长贝德高及各位志愿者教师的共同努力下，拉脱维亚大学出版社出版了《拉脱维亚大学孔子学院十周年纪念册》、《汉语之花盛开在波罗的海之滨—我与拉脱维亚的故事》、《拉脱维亚汉语教学探索》、《精选拉汉-汉拉词典》、《我的中国日记》等10余本出版物，架起了中拉之间的桥梁。

展览方面，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院分别在拉脱维亚国家图书馆和拉脱维亚大学学术图书馆举办了两场展览，分别是“水彩情话”画展和“拉脱维亚大学孔子学院十周年”展，前者主要展出拉脱维亚“飞笔”中国画室师生的作品，艺术家们希望用他们的作品给观众带来一场视觉盛宴，体验中国画水与彩的魔力；后者是围绕拉脱维亚大学孔子学院简介、教学活动、文化活动、重大常规活动以及其他活动等五大部分，诉说着孔子学院的十年的风雨历程。

为了庆祝拉脱维亚孔子学院十周年，举办了一系列的线上庆祝活动，历任汉语教师、志愿者、学生和留华同学会为孔子学院十周年献上了真挚的视频祝福。

中方院长尚劝余与秦洪雷主任和徐越湘教授等华南师范大学师生为拉脱维亚大学孔子学院十周年献上《拉脱维亚大学孔子学院之歌》，歌曲分教师之歌和学生之歌两部分，正如歌词所说：“我们是孔院人做和平的桥梁、国际的使者，铸就中拉文化新的辉煌。”

值此孔子学院十周年之际，中国国际中文教育基金会和华南师范大学送来贺信，祝贺拉脱维亚大学孔子学院成立十周年，希望孔子学院的明天更加美好！此外，《光明日报》在拉脱维亚大学孔子学院建院十周年之际进行采访报道——《“汉文化”飘香拉脱维亚》，肯定了拉脱维亚大学孔子学院在传播汉语方面所作出的贡献。

我们充分相信，在下一个十年里，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院将继续肩负着传播汉语的重大使命，为拉脱维亚的中文教育作出更大的贡献。
