Students and teachers from Confucius Institute at University of Latvia celebrated Confucius Institute Day and Mid-Autumn Festival together

Golden Autumn is the most beautiful season in the world, and ushers in Confucius Institute Day and Mid-Autumn Festival. From September 20 to 23, 2021 (local time), the Mid-Autumn Festival and Confucius Institute Day activities at Confucius Institute at University of Latvia  Headquarters were in full swing, including “toast” singing, sky lantern viewing, blessing sharing, etc. Students not only learned about Confucius Institute Day and Mid-Autumn festival culture, but also experienced the strong traditional Chinese festival atmosphere.

On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the teacher and students of the elementary class of the Confucius Institute Headquarters had their first online Chinese class. Teacher Wang Kaixin gave the students the song “I wish you a long time”, and introduced the Mid-Autumn Festival to the students, invited everyone to know about the Mid-Autumn Festival activities. Students had a lot of fun and learned the expression of “Happy Mid-Autumn Festival!”

Teacher and students of the intermediate class of the Confucius Institute Headquarters together in the cloud, to carry out a rich and interesting Mid-Autumn Festival cultural activities. At the end of the class,Teacher Kuang Youjun and students made their own lanterns to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and took a photo to remember this wonderful moment. The distance cannot set us apart, as long as we are close in heart.

Teacher Tang Heng prepared a special greeting gift for HSK5 and HSK4. The students experienced the festival mood of reunion and happiness in the poem about the Mid-Autumn Festival and expressed their interest in the customs of the festival. Finally, Ms. Tang played a video of “Flying lanterns” recorded in advance to the two classes of students, sending them good wishes.

In this cultural class, teacher Tu Jingying shared the Mid-Autumn Festival with students who not only learned the words related to the Mid-Autumn Festival, but also participated in the production of moon cakes through situational games. At last, Ms. Tu showed the lanterns she had made, and the students had more understanding of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

From September 22 to 24, 2021, Confucius Institute Day and Mid-Autumn Festival activities at other Confucius Institute teaching sites were also exciting, including folk customs experience, poems recital toward the moon, moon cakes making, rabbit lanterns folding … Some classes not only spent the Mid-Autumn Festival online, but also moved the Festival to the offline classroom.

For the Faculty of Humanities of the University of Latvia, Sophomore students watched “Mid-Autumn Wonderful Tour” program and experienced the wonderful sounds of classical musical instruments. While the juniors joined “Flower and Full Moon Party”, walked among the ancient homes and alleys, and experienced the lively atmosphere of ancient folk celebrating festivals. Graduate students watched the film “Face Searching Notice “, practiced Chinese through subtitles translating, and battled Chinese poems with teacher Bai Bingyu. Both students and teacher learned the classic lines – 欲折月中桂,持为寒者薪, meaning I really want to go to the Moon Palace to break some laurel branches and give them to the poor in the world. At the same time, in the classroom at the University of Latvia, Teacher Karina Jermaka also worked with the students to do handicrafts, taste desserts, and enjoy the concert, celebrating a rare “non-virtual” Mid-Autumn Festival together.

The students in Confucius Classroom at Riga 34 Secondary School, local teacher Evita Kalme and Chinese teacher Li Wenyu experienced the festival online. Besides learning knowledge and related vocabulary about the festival, teacher Li also shared students with videos of making lantern and mooncake. At the end of the class, they recited the ancient Chinese poem “In the Quiet Night ” together, and the students made Happy Mid-Autumn Festival greetings to each other in Chinese!

Students from Confucius Classroom at Daugavpils University enjoyed a full moon with Chinese teachers Zhang Dandan and Wang Jiafu online. Just as blooming flowers represent happiness, the full moon represents auspiciousness. Students walked into the prosperous Tang Dynasty, feeling the bustling and lively. They were obsessed to the beauty and fascinated by lantern guessing.

At the beginning of the class, the elementary class of the Latvian Academy of Culture enjoyed the song “Hope for a Long Time”, gaining a preliminary experience of the Mid-Autumn Festival. During the festival customs, Teacher Huo Yue focused on enjoying moon cakes, playing with lanterns, and having reunion dinners. Students in the elementary class had a preliminary experience of Chinese characters, watched the video of the evolution of the character “月”, and tried to write the character. While Students in the intermediate class made rabbit lanterns and experienced the fun of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Students from Riga Cultures Secondary School reviewed some words about Mid-term Festival, then discussed the Chinese myths “Chang’e running to the moon” with teacher Li Xin. And they finished the part of Hou Yi shooting the sun game successfully. Finally, the teacher shared the methods and achievements of making moon cakes with the students, then presented an ancient poem “the bright moon is rising from the sea, and all the people are enjoying the same moment” to the students. Students expressed their desire to come to China to experience the Mid-Autumn Festival in person.

The bright moon may be shared with people from long distance. With the bell ringing, the Chinese teachers of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia have brought an unforgettable Mid-Autumn Festival and Confucius Institute Day to all the students. The moon is full, everyone is full, everything is full, and we hope that the students will make greater progress in the new semester.

人间最美是金秋,一年一度的中秋节和孔子学院日在金秋时节如期来临。当地时间2021年9月20日至23日,拉脱维亚大学孔子学院本部课堂的中秋和孔院日活动开展得如火如荼,分别有举杯邀歌、共赏天灯、分享祝福等,学生们了解了有关中秋文化和孔院日的同时,还体验到浓浓的中华传统节日氛围。

本部初级班的师生们在中秋佳节之际迎来了第一次线上汉语课。王凯欣老师给学生们欣赏了歌曲《但愿人长久》,并向学生们介绍了中秋节,邀请大家一起了解关于中秋节的活动。学生们纷纷表示这很有趣,并学会了“中秋节快乐!”的祝福语。

 

 

 

 

 

“千里聚云端,线上共团圆”,本部中级班师生开展了一次丰富有趣的中秋节文化活动。在“欢庆中秋”的环节,邝又君老师与学生一起制作了属于自己的中秋节小灯笼,最后手提小灯笼一起合影留念,拉下了这次中秋节活动的帷幕。虽与学生远隔千里,但能在中秋佳节相聚云端,也是一种“团圆”。

 

 

 

 

 

教师涂菁滢和本部少儿高高级班、高高级班学生共品中秋,学生们不仅学习了与中秋节有关的词语,还通过情景式游戏参与了月饼的制作,最后涂老师展示了制作的花灯,学生们对中秋节有了更多的了解。

 

 

 

 

 

汤蘅老师给本部成人高高级班(HSK5)成人高级班(HSK4)各准备了一份别开生面的见面礼——“云上中秋”。学生们在有关中秋的诗句中体会了团圆幸福的节日意境,并表示对中秋节的习俗很感兴趣。最后汤老师播放了一段自己提前录制的“放飞孔明灯”的小视频,给两个班的同学们送上美好的祝愿。

 

 

 

 

 

2021年9月22日至24日,孔子学院其它教学点中秋节和孔院日活动同样精彩纷呈,百花齐放。分别有民俗体验、月下斗诗、制作月饼、折兔儿灯……有的班级不仅在线上共度了中秋佳节,还将中秋节搬到了线下的课堂。

人文学院大二学生观看《中秋奇妙游》,感受各种古典乐器的美妙音色。大三学生则观看了《花好月圆会》的精彩片段,身临其境地游走于古宅古巷之中,体验古代民间欢度佳节的热闹氛围。研究生欣赏了中秋题材微电影《寻脸启示》,通过翻译字幕练习汉语,并与白冰玉老师月下斗诗,师生共同学习了“欲斫月中桂,持为寒者薪”等诗句。与此同时,在拉脱维亚大学教室内,卡琳娜老师也与学生一起做手工,品甜点,看晚会,共同度过了一个难得的“实体”中秋。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

里加34中学孔子课堂的学生们、本土教师艾薇塔与中文教师李文玉一起通过zoom在线上共同学习并体验中秋节。除了了解中秋节,学习中秋词汇,教师还给学生们分享了制作灯笼和月饼的视频。在课堂的最后,教师和同学们共同朗诵中国古诗《静夜思》,学生们用课上学习的中文互相庆祝中秋节快乐!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

道加瓦皮尔斯大学的孔子课堂里,教师张丹丹、王嘉夫给学生们展示了盛唐时期中秋佳节锣鼓喧天、繁华热闹的景象,学生们对此感到十分惊叹,并对火树银花和花灯猜谜产生了浓厚的兴趣。

 

 

 

 

 

课前,霍悦老师给拉脱维亚文化学院初级班的学生欣赏了中秋金曲《但愿人长久》,节日习俗环节,霍老师着重介绍了吃月饼、玩花灯和吃团圆饭。初级班学生观看“月”字的演变视频。中级班的学生则制作兔子灯笼,动手体验中秋节的乐趣。

 

 

 

 

 

里加文化中学孔子课堂的学生们与教师李欣一同复习了有关中秋节的词汇,接着一起讨论交流了“嫦娥奔月”的故事,完成了“后羿射日”的知识问答,最后教师给学生们分享了制作月饼的方法和成果,并将“海上生明月,天涯共此时”一句诗送给大家,学生纷纷表示想亲自来到中国体验中秋节。

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

明月千里共,祝福遥相送。伴随着开学的钟声,拉脱维亚大学孔子学院的中文教师们给全体学生带来了一次难忘的中秋节和孔院日活动,月圆人圆事事圆,希望同学们新学期更上一层楼。
