Students of Faculty of Humanities, University of Latvia Welcome the new Academic Year

From September 6th to 10th , 2021, the first academic week of the new semester of the University of Latvia, teachers and students of Faculty of Humanities welcomed their “first class” successively. The first class that Chinese teacher Bai Bingyu met was her graduate students. Among them were new faces, old friends, and even the students she taught at Daugavpils University two years ago. Meeting everyone again, Teacher Bai has a joy of “peach and plum harvest”(Chinese idiom, meaning teacher’s joy on seeing the students doing well in their field). Then, Teacher Bai met the sophomores and juniors who had been successfully upgraded. Thanks to a year of cooperation and interaction, everyone had a tacit understanding on each other. After a brief arrangement for the new semester, teachers and students immediately switched to lesson mode. Teacher Bai commented that the students of the Faculty of Humanities always give her a feeling of eagerness to study. In the online teaching environment, they can still complete their homework consciously and are active in various courses and activities organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia and South China Normal University. This kind of lasting enthusiasm is very rare. As a teacher, she was also encouraged by her students and determined to improve her teaching methods continually, so that every student can truly learn something.
