The Chinese Language Course of the second grade class at No.64 Secondary School was successfully held

The Chinese Language Course of the second grade class at Riga 64 Secondary School was successfully held at 20:00 Beijing time on September 2, 2021, class 5, grade 2 of Riga 64 Secondary School launched the first online Chinese course in the new semester.

Affected by the epidemic, Chinese volunteer teacher could not arrive in Latvia as scheduled, but the epidemic did not break students’ enthusiasm for learning Chinese. Jana Strautmane, the person in charge of Chinese teaching in Riga 64 Secondary school, took the initiative to contact Chinese volunteer teacher Tang Jing through Skype earlier and they actively discussed the course arrangement, determined the course time, class division and student lists, and unanimously decided to continue to use Zoom to carry out online Chinese teaching, and tested it as early as August 19 to ensure that the Chinese course would be carried out as scheduled.

Before the starting of the first Chinese class, the Chinese volunteer teacher played the song Jasmine as the background music. During the formal class, the teacher firstly welcomed the students to continue to learn Chinese. After a simple opening speech, she expressed the hope that everyone would make new progress in the new semester and start a new year of Chinese learning. In the self introduction, the Chinese teacher showed her hometown Sichuan, as well as Sichuan Cuisine: Hot pot, Chuanchuan, Maocai, Bowl chicken, etc. She also introduced the Panda, Sichuan Opera and Facial makeups, reviewed the words about color in the last semester by showing dramatic facial makeup, and introduced the meaning of different facial makeup colors. The students were very interested. Then each student also introduced her/himself,  and some students expressed their interest in Chinese history and Chinese Tea.

After the students introduced themselves, the volunteer teacher gave the students a “Surprise” – Chinese name. The teacher showed and taught the Chinese names prepared for everyone in advance. Each Chinese name has a special meaning, such as “Song Di”, “笛””Flute” is a traditional Chinese musical instrument, “Bamboo Flute” is made of bamboo, which represents integrity. A student told the teacher that he liked his Chinese name “Ma Rui” very much and would be very glad if the teacher could call him directly by his Chinese name.

In the class, the volunteer teacher introduced the contents of the new semester’s Chinese course to the students, including language knowledge, Pinyin, Chinese characters, Chinese festivals, Chinese tea culture, HSK, and Final performance. In the part of the language knowledge, the Chinese teacher briefly introduced the “comparative sentence”, A比B + adj. Originally, it was thought that it was a little difficult for the students, but unexpectedly, the students soon mastered the language point and could use it. Student “Ma Rui” even took the initiative to “compare” things. At the same time, the volunteer teacher also introduced the “degree words” and “concurrent sentence”, which can be quickly understood and used by the students. In the part of Pinyin, the  teacher asked each student to read aloud and review the initials and vowels. Some students took the initiative to say that they could read all the initials and vowels. In the part of Chinese character, the volunteer teacher showed the “龙” to the students. In the part of Chinese festival, the teacher introduced the Mid Autumn Festival, Double Ninth Festival and Spring Festival to the students, and proposed that the cultural activities of the Mid Autumn Festival would be held on September 20. During the introduction of the Spring Festival, the students were particularly active. “Ma Rui” also mentioned the greeting video recorded by teachers and students of Confucius Institute at University of Latvia for Chinese compatriots during the last Spring Festival. The teacher also introduced the Final Performance , which will include calligraphy, paper cutting, Chinese knot, etc. The students expressed great interest. For such a colorful Chinese class, the students expressed and showed their special expectations. At the end of the class, the teacher talked about the classroom rules, introduced the course rewards, and expressed the hope that the students can always participate in the Chinese class.

北京时间2021年9月2日20时,里加64中学教学点二年级5班开展了新学期首次线上汉语课程。

受疫情影响,汉语教师志愿者不能如期抵达拉脱维亚,但疫情并没有打破学生学习汉语的热情,里加64中学汉语课程负责人Jana Strautmane早前就通过skype主动与对应教学点汉语教师唐静联系,双方积极商讨课程安排,确定课程时间、分班和学生名单等工作,同时一致决定继续使用Zoom开展线上教学,并早在8月19日进行了测试,以确保汉语课如期开展。

在第一堂汉语课正式开始前,志愿者教师唐静播放了歌曲茉莉花为背景音乐。正式上课时,志愿者教师首先对同学们继续学习汉语表示欢迎,简单的开场白后表示希望大家在新学期取得新进步,开启汉语学习新的一年。志愿者教师自我介绍中,展示了自己的家乡四川,以及四川的美食:火锅、串串、冒菜、钵钵鸡等,还介绍了大熊猫、川剧、脸谱,同学们表示很感兴趣。随后,每位同学也做了自我介绍,有学生们表示自己对中国历史文化,茶文化感兴趣。

在同学们自我介绍后,志愿者教师送给同学们一个“惊喜”-中文名字。教师展示并教读了提前为大家准备的中文名字,每个中文名字都有特殊的含义,例如”宋笛”,”笛”是中国传统乐器,”竹笛”由竹子制成,代表了正直的意思。值得高兴的是,一位同学很喜欢他的中文名字”马瑞”,并主动提出希望老师可以直接用中文名称呼他。

课堂中,志愿者教师向同学们介绍了新学期汉语课程的内容,包括语言知识,拼音,汉字,中国节日,中国茶文化,汉语水平考试和期末汇演。语言知识环节,志愿者教师简单介绍了”比较句”,A比B+adj,原本以为对同学们来说有些难,但出乎意料的是,同学们很快就掌握了这个语言点并能够使用,”马瑞”同学甚至会主动对事物”做比较”。志愿者教师同时也对”程度词”、”兼语句”做了介绍,同学们都能迅速理解并快速使用。拼音环节,志愿者教师让每位同学都朗读复习了声母和韵母,有同学主动表示自己能读完所有声母和韵母。汉字环节,志愿者教师向同学们展示了”龙”。中国节日环节,教师向同学们介绍了中秋节,重阳节和春节,并提出9月20日会举办中秋节文化活动。介绍春节时同学们尤其活跃,”马瑞”同学还提及去年春节拉脱维亚大学孔子学院师生为中国同胞录制的问候视频。志愿者教师在课堂上也介绍了期末汇演,将包括书法,剪纸,中国结等,同学们表示很感兴趣。如此丰富的汉语课堂,同学们都主动表示特别期待。在最后,教师谈及了课堂规则,介绍了课程奖励,并表示希望同学们都能一直参加汉语课。
