The meeting on the establishment of Chinese teaching point in Riga 64 Middle School was successfully held

On March 22, 2019, the headmaster and secretary of the Riga 64 Secondary School and the Chinese and foreign dean of the Confucius Institute of Latvia University negotiated on the establishment of a Chinese language teaching point at the Riga 64 Secondary School. Three Chinese teachers from the Confucius Classroom at Riga Culture Secondary School and the Confucius Classroom at Riga 34 Secondary School also participated in the meeting.

The meeting officially began at 12:00. First of all, the Chinese teachers in the Confucius Classroom at Riga Culture Secondary School introduced their Chinese teaching. The Confucius Classroom at Riga Culture Secondary School is the first Confucius Classroom opened in Latvia. It has rich experience in Chinese teaching. It not only has elective classes in the 10-12 grade, but also has interest classes for the public. At the meeting, Chinese teachers gave a detailed introduction to their Chinese curriculum, student composition, class schedule and teaching content. After that, the Chinese teacher of Confucius Classroom in Riga 34 Secondary School introduced the Chinese language courses in the lower grades, and proposed the suggestions that control the number of students to ensure the teaching effect and to equip local teachers to help the communication of teachers and students.

After the introduction of the Chinese teacher, the headmaster of the Riga 64 Secondary School expressed his willingness to open Chinese lessons in the whole school. He also expressed his interest in the parent-child Chinese class according to the feedback of the parents of the students. The Chinese teachers gave corresponding suggestions on this: add cultural elements and increase parent-child interaction. In addition, the headmaster of the school also made a detailed consultation on the number of Chinese language classes, teacher equipment, school hardware support and other aspects.

Later, the Chinese and foreign dean of the Confucius Institute at the Latvia University introduced the special project of the Confucius Institute to the head of the Riga 64 Secondary School, which was provided by the Chinese and Latvia students. At the end of the meeting, the two parties negotiated the time of signing the contract and it is expected to sign the contract in August this year.

会议于中午12点正式开始。首先，由里加文化中学孔子课堂的汉语教师对其课堂教学情况进行了介绍。里加文化中学孔子课堂是拉脱维亚开设的第一个孔子课堂，汉语教学经验丰富，不仅有高中部的选修学分班，还面向社会人士开设了兴趣晚班。会上汉语教师详细介绍了其汉语课程设置、学员构成、课时安排、教学内容等情况。之后，里加34中学孔子课堂汉语教师着重对低年级汉语课程开设情况进行了介绍，提出了为保证教学效果应控制学生人数、尽量配备本土教师以便师生交流的建议。

汉语教师介绍过后，里加64中学负责人表达了在全校大范围开设汉语课的意愿，并就学生家长反馈表达了对开设亲子汉语课堂的兴趣，汉语教师就此给出了相应建议如在课程中多加入文化元素，增加亲子互动环节。此外，该校负责人还就汉语课程班级人数设置、教师配备、校方硬件支持等方面做了详细了解。

之后，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院中外方院长用中拉双语向里加64中学负责人介绍了孔子学院的特别项目——为广大汉语学习者提供的夏令营活动及为开设了汉语课程的学校领导人提供的拉脱维亚教育访华团活动。这两项活动为拉国的汉语爱好者了解中国增加了便捷途径。 此外，中拉方院长还对孔子课堂开设条件进行了简单介绍，表达了希望里加64中学汉语教学点顺利开设及蓬勃发展的美好愿望。会议最后，双方就合同签订时间进行协商，预计在今年八月进行签约。
