The First Meeting of the Sixth Council of LUCI and New Volunteers Forum was Successfully Held
12月19日上午，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院第六届理事会第一次会议在华南师范大学召开。华南师范大学副校长吴坚、国际合作交流处副处长谭伟红、孔子学院管理办公室主管叶晓霓、拉脱维亚大学孔子学院理事会理事黄明喜、拉方院长贝德高、中方院长尚劝余等出席了此次会议。
中方院长尚劝余总结了孔子学院2017年的工作情况，着重介绍了孔院办学规模的进一步扩大以及承办、协办的几场大型比赛和文化活动。拉方院长贝德高展望了2018年的工作部署，指出孔院将继续在拉脱维亚布局汉语教学点，使教学点覆盖拉脱维亚全国各大区域，同时将加大本土化教材研发力度，积极推进新汉学计划项目。副校长吴坚对孔子学院一年来的工作表示肯定，高度评价了孔院两位院长及孔院教师、志愿者2017年取得的成绩，并表示华师校方将在教师选拔、师资培训、新汉学计划实施等方面提供必要的支持。
当天下午，拉脱维亚大学孔子学院2018学年新志愿者座谈会在国际文化学院举行。拉方院长、中方院长与刚刚从选拔考试中脱颖而出的12名新志愿者进行了会面，国际文化学院王葆华老师主持了座谈会。两位院长与新志愿者一一认识，初步了解了志愿者的兴趣和特长。中方院长尚劝余向新志愿者介绍了拉脱维亚大学孔子学院的办学情况，对下个学年的人员调配进行了安排。两位院长勉励新志愿者抓紧上任前的时间努力提升教学技能，多从前辈身上吸取经验，赴任后迅速施展才华。最后，新志愿者向两位院长询问了赴拉脱维亚任教相关的问题。
On the morning of December 19th , 2017, the first meeting of the Sixth Council of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia was held at South China Normal University. Vice President of South China Normal University Prof. Wu Jian, Deputy Director of International Cooperation and Exchange Office Mr. Tan Weihong, Dean of the Academy of Education and Science of South China Normal University Mrs. Ye Xiaoni, Council Director of the Confucius Institute of the University of Latvia Professor Huang Mingxi, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia Prof. Pildegovičs, Director of the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia Prof. Shang Quanyu attended the meeting.
Professor Shang Quanyu, summed up the work of the Confucius Institute in 2017. Focused on the further expansion of Confucius Institutes and the hosting and co-sponsoring of several large-scale competitions and cultural activities.Prof. Pildegovičs looked ahead the deployment of work in 2018, pointed out that Confucius Institute will continue to lay out Chinese teaching points in Latvia so that teaching points will cover all major regions of Latvia. At the same time, it will intensify research and development of localized teaching materials and actively promote the project of new Sinology. Vice President Wu Jian expressed his appreciation for the work done by the Confucius Institute over the past year. He spoke highly of the achievements made by the two directors, teachers and volunteer teachers in 2017, and said that South China Normal University will provide the necessary support to help the teacher selection, teacher training, the implement of new Sinology plan and other aspects .
In the afternoon, a forum for new volunteers of the 2018 of LUCI was held at the International Cultural Institute. Two directors met with 12 new volunteers who had just stood out from the selection examinations. Pro.Wang Baohua from International Cultural Institute hosted the forum. The two directors met with the new volunteers one by one to understand the volunteer’s interests and expertise.Pro.Shang Quanyu introduced the situation of Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia to the new volunteers and arranged the staffing for the next academic year.The two directors encouraged new volunteers to work hard to improve their teaching skills before taking office and learn more from their seniors . Finally, the new volunteers asked the two presidents about the issues related to teaching in Latvia.
